Investing is boring…

And that is the way it should be. Some people choose to try and make investing exciting, but they’re doing it wrong. Money is just a tool, and treating it as a game is a quick way to guarantee future stress and a high likelihood of financial failure.

Investing doesn’t have to be complicated. You’ll actually do better with your money the less you know about it. If you want to succeed, you don’t have to spend years educating yourself on strategies, terminologies, and loopholes. You can read this post and guarantee yourself a pretty straightforward path to financial success.

In today’s society, affordability seems to be the things holding everyone back. “If only I could buy this, then I’d be able to do that”. “things just aren’t as accessible as they once were, our generation will never succeed like the ones before us”. Phrases like this are common avoidances to people’s dire financial situations. I, however, refuse to utter phrases anything similar to these, and call bullshit to any sympathies of the sort. What if I told you that there’s a bulletproof path to generational wealth that anyone can learn, requires about an hour of effort a year, and will guarantee you millionaire status over the course of your lifetime? Better yet, you’ll actually make more money than ninety percent of high degree holding financial professionals who do this shit for a living.

The first thing you’ll need to do is make sure that you’re able to save fifteen percent of your yearly income. If you don’t know that you’re able to do this, I suggest you just do it anyway, and figure out the hard way after its all said and done. I’ll have more posts about saving in the near future. if you’re a standard nine to five employee at a company that offers a “four oh one K” plan, change your contribution to fifteen percent right this second. If you make money some other way, set up an automatic monthly transfer of fifteen percent of your calculated income into a Roth IRA account. Open one of these immediately if you haven’t already. They are accessible to anyone who earns an income in the USA. In either of these accounts, you will have the option to pick stocks, bonds, ETF’s, and mutual funds to invest in. Keep this simple by investing equally in a total US stock market fund, a total US bond market fund, and a total International stock market fund. If you’d like, you can skew your contribution to around sixty percent towards the US stock market, which is what I do. But, if you want a completely painless approach, balancing each fund equally is totally fine.

NEVER invest in any single company stocks. NEVER invest based off of what you heard in the news, or what you were told by a friend.

KEEP these three previously mentioned investments. KEEP your contributions to fifteen percent or more.

You will be set for life. It’s seriously that simple. Over fifty years it’ll be really really boring, but that’s how you know you’re doing it correctly. Close your account. log in once a year to reset your holding back to an equal split, then log back out again. Hell, you could even forget your account’s password for the next thirty years and still succeed with this method. Think of it as throwing your money in the trash. Pretend you don’t need it…because you really don’t…then surprise your future self when you’re ready to retire a millionaire. Start as early as you can, don’t think about it too much, set everything to automatic, and chill knowing you’ll never have to utter one of those goddamn doom and gloom, hogwash, poppycock phrases ever again.

ignore anyone who tells you otherwise.
